Dear Friends,
I'm Mary Blunt, and if you live in Dorchester County, I've been your Probate Judge since you elected me in 2008. Probate Court is about one thing: Helping people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether it's dealing with dad's death or mom's need for a guardian, Probate Court deals with the really tough problems people face. Our mission is to do the very best job helping people when they need it the most.
My own experience caring for elderly parents has helped me develop a passion to meet these needs. My mother, a brilliant chemistry professor with a love for drawing, suffers from Alzheimer's, and our family continues to struggle with this mentally crippling disease. When I say "I know what you're going through," I mean it. While caring for mom has been difficult, it's made me a better person and a better Probate Judge. When people come to Probate Court for help, I don't view them as file numbers; they're friends and neighbors in need—some with the same needs I have as I care for my mom.
I'm passionate about the work I do at Probate Court. Just as important, I have caring staff members who feel the same way. If you lose a loved one, I want you to say what I've heard many times: "My husband's death was horrible, but everyone at Probate Court was caring and helpful. It made the process so much easier."
I'm here to help, and I hope you'll support me.
Your Probate Judge,

Mary Blunt
